Aupair Visa South Africa - Au Pair Program in South Africa

Aupair Guidelines in South Africa:

  • Aupairs are responsible for their own medical insurance and flight costs.
  • Aupairs must be aged 18 to 30 to qualify for a permit.
  • Aupairs must speak English and have experience caring for children.
  • Aupairs must have a high school certificate.
  • Aupairs must have no criminal background

Aupairs in South Africa receive one full day off each week and a range of $50-70 US a week in pocket money.

Aupair Visa Options:

As an aupair you will need a Work Permit (not a work seekers permit).

Work permits are a form of temporary residence permit. They are issued for a maximum period of one year. Contact the South Africa Department of Home Affairs for specific details.

Working Holiday Visa for Australians:

Australian Nationals ages 18-25 are eligible for working holiday visas. These 12 month visas allow students or recent graduates who have proof of funds (500 AUD per month) to travel and work in South Africa. Working Holiday Visa's must be applied for through IEP: https://www.iep.org.au/homev3_flash.asp

SWAP Program for Canadians:

The SWAP Program is limited to Canadian nationals, ages 18-30, who are full time college students or graduates in the past year, to work in South Africa for up to 12 months. https://www.swap.ca/

There is a BUNAC program for UK nationals, however, it is for volunteers only, you cannot work in South Africa on the BUNAC program.
